I recently moved to the north Dallas area and when my car broke down in Irving I didn't know where to go to get it fixed. A friend said that he had been taking his car to David's Automotive for years so I opted to have my car towed here. The workers were all very nice and helpful. They kept me informed while I tried to figure out my work and ride situation and were willing to hold onto my car over night before I could come pick it up, no charge! That being said, I gave them the lowest rating because of an unfortunate series of events. When I came to talk with the mechanic after they had completed their diagnostic testing, he tried to over charge me for the price of the tow. I contacted the tow company and discovered that they had charged the mechanic several hundred dollars less than what he was indicating. When I brought this information to the mechanic he was astounded and stated he would need to figure out what was going on with the tow company. Needless to say, I found this a little sketchy. He didn’t charge me the original overage amount but I still didn’t feel comfortable leaving the car there. It took a day of repeated calls and trips to both offices for me to final get the information I needed. This behavior is very unprofessional and untrustworthy in my book. They all seemed like nice guys but I will not be taking my car back to David’s Automotive.

I apologize for the experience you had and when I investigated it further, I found that the tow company had charged me a total of $513.00 for a police call on two separate invoices, one for $342.00 and one for $171.00. When I called the tow company, they said that the person that did it was a minor and apologized for it but would not refund the $171.00 and charged me a total of $342,00. I don't feel this is right and for that reason I only charged you $171.00. I also contacted my lawyer and found out that the tow company is under investigation by the state for over charging customers and having multiple invoices for the same tow. I am going to press charges and take the tow company to court. I again apologize for this and I will let all my customers know not to use the tow company. David

I am absolutely compelled to write this review..... Called David's Auto yesterday as my alternator was in the midst of dying, they were very helpful on the phone and agreed that what I was experiencing was the alternator and would get me in right away. So I drove directly there and dropped the car off, again very helpful and they would call with a quote shortly. That is where it took a turn for the worse. He called back with a price of $857 for a alternator and serpentine belt; well I nearly choked as the parts are max $150 at O'Reilly's (where they get their parts from and I had already priced the work out myself). Now I understand a markup on parts and all businesses have to make money but do the math and you can see this was not an honest deal. When I complained that the price was absolutely outrageous for the amount of work he tried to drop it $250, which is still $605. The fact that you can even drop the price that much for no reason and with no change is crazy. I brought them a self assessed problem that is basic work and they tried this, I can only imagine what they would have tried on my mother. I would avoid these scam artist as there are many reputable shops out there, this from my experience is not one. The icing on the cake was that he continued to argue with me as I picked up my car some how justifying his work (even saying that he knew he was about a $100 over the dealership, the dealership) Just really bad business.

I have only been using them for maybe about a year or so. During this time, I've had to do some waaaaay overdue maintenance and work on my car. Replacement of some parts and such. They have always delivered with no issues. They are patient, courteous and very nice. They do what you ask them to do and they do it well. And that's really all I've asked. Except I have had experiences where that's not the case at other shops that I have gone to before. I am very satisfied. I do have to mention that they took care of a shaking problem that discount tire even couldn't fix by just rotating. Discount tire told me they have rotated AND balanced but interestingly enough my car was still doing the same thing. After giving up and driving the car no higher than 45 mph because of it, it was time for an oil change. David's had a free tire rotation with oil change special that day so I did it. Well surprised to find out that no shaking after that!

These guys are no good. I took my car there to get my radiator fixed. They put in a new radiator. Charged me $400 for it. The next day my car was leaking again. I took it back and they said the hose was loose. Fixed it. Two day later car's leaking again. I am going to take it back again today and ask them to fix it right this time. But the people are rude and I don't plan to go back there ever again.
